25-year-old youth corper Charity Thilza, who was only 3 day away from completing her National Youth Service Corps programme, was killed on Monday.
She was shot dead by robbers on her way back from a nightclub in Carribean, Wuse 2, early Monday morning, Punch reports.
Today, Thursday would have been Charity’s passing-out parade from the NYSC.
A source revealed to Punch Metro that Charity and four friends of hers attended a club where popular musician Phyno performed on Sunday.
But on their way driving back home the next morning, they noticed they were being followed by another car. They took a detour and sped up but the car continued chasing them and the robbers opened fire.
The robbers shot several times at the car. Unfortunately, some bullets pierced through the windscreen and hit Charity. One of her friends, Lola, also got shot.
The robbers retreated when they saw that the driver of the car was heading towards a police station.
Charity’s friends rushed her to a hospital, but, according to Punch, she was rejected. Charity died on the way to another hospital.
According to the source, Charity’s corpse is with the police and will possibly be released for burial today, Thursday.
Charity was from Borno state. She studied Linguistics and English at the University of Maiduguri.
