The Presidency has confirmed the release of 82 Chibok girls by the Boko Haram militant group.

In a statement released on Saturday by Garba Shehu, the President’s assistant on Media and Publicity, the presidency acknowledged the release of the missing girls, attributing the success to ‘lengthy negotiations’ between the government and Boko Haram.

The Presidency also stated that the Boko Haram militants released the 82 Chibok school girls in exchange for ‘some Boko Haram suspects held by the government.’

The released Chibok girls will arrive Abuja Sunday, May 7, where they will be hosted by President Buhari.
