Nigerian Army troops deployed at Dala village prevented what could have a catastrophe on Tuesday night (July 13) when they neutralized a possible suicide bombing in the community.
In a statement following the incident*, the Army PR Director, Brigadier General Sani Usman said that the suspected suicide bomber attempted to cross through the Army’s forward defenses at about 10 pm Tuesday.
“Upon several challenges and warning shots the suspect refused to halt. The suspect who still continued to approach towards the troops location was immediately neutralized,” he said.
The Borno State Emergency Management Agency and the International Committee of the Red Cross was contacted by the Army to evacuate the suspect remains.
He also pleaded with the public to keep volunteering information to the security agencies in order to help prevent attacks by ‘remnants of the Boko Haram terrorists.’
