It was a surprising and somewhat mysterious situation this afternoon when the palace of the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, was attacked by fire. It all began at a store where the monarch’s royal beads, local fan and traditional attire were kept.
Eye witnesses confirmed that it took two fire trucks as well as combined efforts of Rapid Response Squad (RSS) policemen, Officers from Lion Building, fire service and officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LAESEMA) to put out the fire.
Although the condition of other parts of the palace could not be ascertained, witnesses confirmed that the Monarch was moved to safety.
The Nation stated that the Fire Service Director, Rasaq Fadipe confirmed the incident but he didn’t have facts as at that time.
Strangely, this is coming less than a week after a video that showed Oba Rilwan snubbing the Ooni of Ife at a public event went viral, causing a major uproar on social media.
Could this be a mere coincidence or could this be karma at work?
