Google launches new OS: Android Oreo

Google officially launched its latest operating system for Android devices, cleverly named Android Oreo, during the total solar eclipse in the US on Monday.

The new OS promises the following new features:

  • Picture-in-picture: This will allow you seamlessly use two apps at the same time .
  • Better security: Android Oreo comes with built-in Google Play Protect for better security.
  • Longer battery power by limiting background apps from overusing the battery
  • “Supersonic speed:” faster boot time, auto-fill (for passwords — with user’s permission), and instant app (use new apps without having to install).
  • Complete emoji redesign, plus new emojis.

According to Google, the OS is out on Android Open Source Project (AOSP) for everyone to access.
